Second stop on our Iceland Excursions Golden Circle Classic tour. Gullfoss waterfall–One of the most popular tourists sites in Iceland. This is in the Southwest, at the canyon of Hvítá river. Wikipedia source: “Three step staircase to a dual-drop waterfall.” Sounds credible. As is a theme in Iceland, you guessed it, LOTS of ROCKS and LOTS of WIND. And this stop added LOTS of WATER. All pictures taken on my Canon T3i with either my Sigma 10-20mm lens or my Canon 55-250mm. First picture in the series is one of my favorite color-correction jobs to date. Experimented with some Photoshop HDR at the end of the post as well. Enjoy!

Would have liked an ND filter for some shots, but lens and gear changes at the mouth of a waterfall (misty/dusty/watery/windy/rocky) is risky. Stopped down as low as I could go.Iceland is great–no railings, fences, or confining signposts. Walk as you please–but please don’t take a swim…View before a 105-foot drop. Aside from the Northern Lights (attempt) I traveled mostly tripod-less–with packed snow and slippery footing (even in my hiking boots!) I was definitely more concerned about mobility.
